Clay Christmas Ornaments- Below is an activity that I created which will help kindergarten students gain a better understanding of basic shapes, colors, and patterns! It is also a super cute way for students to get creative and make something that they can keep for the rest of their lives!

Step 1: Have each student get a table spoon of clay and roll it into a ball.
Step 2: Place the ball of clay on the table and place the palm of your hand on top of it to smash it down until the clay is evenly spread out.
Step 3: Select the cookie cutter of your choice and place it on top of the clay and push down on the cookie cutter.
Step 4: Peel away the excess clay from around the cookie cutter and then carefully remove the cookie cutter from the clay.
Step 5: Gather any paint, jewels, stamps, or beads that you would like to use to decorate your ornament with and begin painting!
Step 6: Decorate your ornamenent using a variety of different colors, shapes, and patterns.Step 7: Make a hole somewhere in your oranament using the hard end of your paint brush so that you can tie a ribbon on it and hang it from your tree!
This activity is super cute and would be an excelent way to teach kids about their basic shapes, colors and patterns. This activity is fun for kids of all ages!! Here are a few that we created!!
